Bootcamp Residential Heating (Gas / Heat-Pumps) & Air-Conditioning Immersion Course (6-weeks / 3-days a week) $4,495

  • 150 Hours of Technician Training
  • Designed for the student with little to no HVAC background, aspiring to be a truck-ready technician
  • 25% Classroom Instruction / 75% Hands-On Training

Course Description:

  • Introduces the basic refrigeration process used in air conditioning systems. Topics include terminology, safety, identification and function of refrigeration cycle components, tools and instrumentation used.
  • Introduces the basic heating process used in Gas Furnace and Heat Pump Systems. Topics include terminology, safety, identification and function of refrigeration cycle components, tools and instrumentation used.
  • Covers the basic installation procedures, system operations, and maintenance of residential comfort cooling & heating systems.
  • Introduces the common electrical and electronic control components in HVAC systems. Emphasis is placed on identifying components and their functions in HVAC systems and motor-driven control circuits.
  • Covers the types of controls found in residential comfort systems. Topics include basic electrical and electronic controls, control schematics and wiring diagrams, test instruments, analysis and basic troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • Covers the maintenance and servicing of HVAC equipment. Topics include testing, adjusting, maintaining, and basic troubleshooting HVAC equipment and record keeping.
  • EPA 608 Certification prep & test, as well as NATE Ready to Work Certificate prep & test included!
  • Students will receive an essential tool bag and text book.

Real-World Wrightsoft System Design (2-Day)      $397

  • Perform “Block” Load Calculation on actual 1 & 2 level Homes
  • Perform “Room-Room” Load Calculations on actual 1 & 2 Level Homes
  • Layout actual duct systems (Trunk & Branch and Radial Designs)

Course Description:

  • This course introduces the protocols and procedures of conventional residential heating and cooling system design.
  • Topics include heating and cooling loads, basic psychrometrics, equipment selection, duct system selection and overall system design while using Wrightsoft.
  • Participants should be able to design a basic residential heating and cooling system upon completion of this course (block loads & room-room loads).
  • Computer with Windows Operating System REQUIRED to take the class and download the software

Advanced Wrightsoft System Design (1-Day)      $225

  • Perform advanced “Room-Room” Load Calculations on unique single-unit residences to include Townhomes, Condominiums and Split-Level Dwellings
  • Layout actual duct systems to include 2-Zone Duct Systems (with Zone Dampers)
  • Evaluate "Real-World" survey challenges on older homes and how to model on Wrightsoft.

EPA Certification Course & Exam (1-Day)      $189

  • PowerPoint based course
  • Includes all the class material to achieve the Universal Certification
  • ESCO Testing Material

Course Description

  • This course covers the requirements for the EPA 608 certification examinations. Topics include small appliances, high pressure systems, and low pressure systems. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate knowledge of refrigerants and be prepared for the EPA Universal Certification examinations.  
  • Actual test is administered and proctored during the class.

Gas Furnace Trouble-Shooting  (1-Day)    $189

  • Gas furnace fundamentals & operational sequences and how they relate to “Trouble-shooting”
  • Most common “Trouble-shooting” procedures based on real-life scenarios

Course Description:

  • This course covers the fundamentals of gas heating systems.
  • Topics include safety, system operating characteristics, combustion, motors, electrical and control systems.

Heat Pump Trouble-Shooting (1-Day)      $189

  • Heat Pump fundamentals and how they relate to “Trouble-shooting” methodology

Mini-Split Installation/Start-Up Fundamentals (1-Day) $189

  • This class introduces mini-split heat pump system application and installation techniques.

Course Description:

  • Emphasis is placed on practical tips to ensure a complete and professional installation, including proper system application and location considerations, manufacturer’s installation instructions, practical installation techniques, code compliance, as well as proper start-up procedures to reduce callbacks.

Honeywell Zoning Systems (1-Day)      $189

  • Proper duct system zoning set-up & controls is required in getting HVAC systems to perform at their optimum levels. This course covers the basic design, installation and balancing techniques to ensure proper system airflow.

Course Description:

  • Topics include automatic zone damper controls, bypass damper setup & adjustment, air balancing (to include bypass ducting), and basic troubleshooting.

Air-Balancing & Duct Systems (1-Day)        $189

  • Air balancing is the missing link in getting HVAC systems to perform at their peak levels.  This course covers the air diagnostics and balancing techniques to optimize system airflow.

Course Description:

  • Topics include airflow measurements, air balancing, restrictive duct issues, duct leakage requirements, proper blower settings and restrictive filters.
